I'm posting
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
of what an ad for a legal R33 looks like. All that info about the paperwork and bond release is what you need to see. Without that the car is illegal. Period. Any Skyline less than 25 years old being sold in the US will either have an ad like this, or it's illegal.
EDIT: Quote from ebay ad for when the ad disappears:
"I imported it to the US and had Motorex perform the legalization. I believe this car was the second to last vehicle issued a full bond release from NHTSA – it was actually inspected by NHTSA at the Motorex facility when they audited the company in late 2003. I had emissions certification performed for both Federal and California standards – this car is legal in all 50 states and has a California Bureau of Automotive Repairs (BAR) label affixed to the driver’s side door jamb."

It's not often people do it legitimately.

I'm so sad I don't have anywhere near that money. Or that I can't drive. You made my day worse. Thanks a lot:(. Just kidding, but I want it more than anything posted here in the last 48 hours. Who on here can buy it? If I had $500k to spare I would call him right now and offer $5000 more than asking price.

MotoRex has completed all of the mandatory requirements for the elegibility of importation of the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Motorex is proud to announce the street legal Nissan Skyline GT-R for the United States; however MotoRex is no longer importing Skyline GT-R'S
I don't get it...

From what I understand Motorex actually brought in a couple R34's. While they were bringing them in illegally (they had only done the process for the R33), the government eventually did issue bond releases to them. Could have been on of those.

Aw, isn't that cute! The little GV's trying to get some attention as well.
On a serious note, it's really awesome to see a listing like this with a truly legal Skyline, especially a GT-R.
Tastefully customized, well taken care of, whoever wins this is gonna get themselves one heck of a car.

There's an R34 I've seen around the Portland area. my friend had an R32 for a short time that was completely illegal, it was originally smuggled over the border from Canada with plates form another car back when the border wasn't too strict or didn't pay attention. the original owner managed to get it registered in Redmond OR where they don't do emissions, but you cant get insurance for it so you cant legally drive it on the street.

Send the car to NH with a bill of sale, register it, then sell it, the car WILL have legal paperwork...ha

These were legal and registered, and driven on the streets.
The way I've seen some do it here is with Dealer plates...That's how some go without insurance too.

That's still not legal, though. okay, State Legal vs. Federally Legal. State legal means the car is registered, insured, and has plates. Federally Legal means it's actually legal and was brought in by Motorex. Otherwise, customs can and does come take them away. Dealer Plates are legal, except that the car still isn't.

Unless it says Motorex related to it, it's not legal. Period. and Motorex actuaally got bond releases on R32s and 34s, despite only getting the paperwork done on R33s, but claiming they were Similar Enough to the R33 to merit the same paperwork. the government agreed, but then went back on it. there's a whole long issue. Basically, if it doesn't say Motorex on the paperwork, run. run fast.

Motorex hasn't existed for a number of years. their web site is still up for some reason.

Sorry, I think the thread order confused me or something. I thought you were telling me this one wasn't legal...Stupid Kinja.

naw, this one's fine, but the odds of seeing a legal R34 are basically nil. there were, if I recall, 12. and not all of them were GT-Rs. Also, yeah, Kinja screwed up thread order.

Yeah, I always found the governments handling of the situation...interesting....
I'm guessing the legal R34's change hands quietly for large sums of money.

From people who have seen them change hands, if you're thinking beginning of the 6 figure market, you're on the right track.

I know...high school teachers should use this as a great example of supply and demand economics.
